英语写作中的描写方式分为两种：主观描写（subjective description）与客观描写（objective description）。
一，主观描写是描写者在描述人或事物时，把自己的看法、观点表达出来。比如，在记叙文中，景物描写可以创造某种气氛、展示事件背景等。而客观描写只限于就事论事不带有任何情感成分和主观意愿。
如：The mountain is beautiful.（主观描写）
The mountain is almost 800 meters high.（客观描写）
I am going upstairs.（主观描写）
I am on the second floor.（客观描写）

二，描写文写作常用的写作方法为感官法即视（sight）、听（hearing）、味（taste）、嗅（smell）、触（touch）。
例如描写盐（salt）
Looks like： white， small， shiny（有光泽的 ）.
Sounds like： quiet， silent.
Tastes like： bitter， salty， bad.
Smells like： faint（模糊的）， odorless（无味的）.
Feels like： soft， slips through my fingers
